KAIROS RETREAT – Feb. 16-19, 2018

Juniors, Seniors and fresh/soph members of AfterMass! are invited to participate in a Kairos Retreat with the teens of various parishes including Queen of the Rosary on President’s Day weekend (2/16-19/2018). Kairos (from Greek καιρός, which classically means “the opportune time” or to indicate a sense of time, and is adapted to mean “the Lord’s time”) is a Roman Catholic retreat program for high school and college students.  It’s essentially a four day, three night residential retreat, with the aim of providing you the chance to contemplate God’s role in your life. This would be a unique opportunity for you to spend a little time getting in touch with God and how He fits into your everyday existence in a very special way that will transform your life!  This retreat is being held at Bishop Lane Retreat Center in Rockford. You would meet at one of the parishes (probably Wayside or St. Colette) after school Friday and they will transport you to the retreat center. The closing ceremony will be at St. John the Evangelist around 7:30 Monday evening. The cost is about $200 per person but I am told they are investigating ways to possibly lower that price and also there are scholarship options through QR and through the diocese to help anyone who wants to come but perhaps cannot afford it. Anyone wishing to further discuss the Kairos Retreat, please contact Mr. Van for further details!

Catholic Heart Work Camp Mission Trip - WE’RE HEADED TO FREMONT, NEBRASKA!!!

Every year our AfterMass! Youth Group takes a trip to Catholic Heart Work Camp in the summer usually in June.  NEXT YEAR WE ARE GOING THE WEEK OF JUNE 24-29, 2018 to FREMONT, NEBRASKA!!  Come join us!!  The Catholic Heart Work Camp has a two-fold mission: To share the love of Jesus and serve the neglected, brokenhearted and marginalized in any way needed.  The Catholic Heart Work Camp mission is to revitalize communities and beautify homes for the elderly, disabled and those who cannot afford needed repairs.  Our goal is to inspire participants to serve in their local communities. The second part is to empower participants to live as disciples of Christ through serving others and to foster the spiritual growth of each participant through the sacraments, Catholic faith sharing and prayer.  Those attending the camp will also attend a special send off Mass prior to the trip at which a special blessing will be given to all our campers before we leave on our trip.   If you want to go, we only have a handful of spots left so contact Mr. Van to let him know that you want to go to Fremont, Nebraska!  Don’t miss out on all the fun!!!  Contact Mr. Van via email to ask any questions about the CHWC MISSION TRIP or if  you simply want to get involved in youth ministry!!
